The Louis Vuitton LV Initiales Belt in Empreinte black and Monogram canvas places the house’s two most recognizable surface treatments on opposite faces of one reversible strap. The face is Monogram Empreinte: black leather with the Monogram motif — the overlapping LV, the four-petal flower, the diamond flower — pressed directly into the hide as a blind emboss, the pattern sitting flush with the surface, visible as texture rather than print. The reverse is classic Monogram canvas: the same motifs in brown on the signature tan-brown ground, printed rather than pressed, the original 1896 surface. Two different readings of the same graphic — one in leather, one in canvas; one monochrome, one two-tone; one recessed, one flat. The gold-tone LV Initiales buckle — the overlapping L and V letterforms — detaches to allow the flip. At approximately 2cm, the strap is slim, the buckle proportionate.
